* Call for Contributions *
****************************
Dear colleagues and graduate students,
We seek your contribution to the third Computing Women Congress (CWC) in
February 2008 at the University of Waikato, New Zealand. The CWC is a
conference for female students, academic and professional staff who
study or work in Information Technology.
The CWC is a different kind of conference. The congress aims to provide
role models for those early in their computing careers and also a
meeting place for those well into their careers. By learning from each
other's skills and experiences, we seek to form a community that shares
interests and knowledge.
We are looking for women to give presentations, short seminars, or
courses on
* hands-on skills
* current trends and new technologies
* career advice for women
* projects featuring women in IT
* IT-related gender research
Students at all levels, and professionals from academic, scientific or
commercial backgrounds are all welcome to present and attend courses. By
learning from each other's skills and experiences, we seek to form a
community that shares interests and knowledge.
If you know of anyone who would be interested in participating in CWC,
either as a presenter or an attendee, please forward them this email.
Even if you are not able to attend, we would value your support in
helping us raise awareness for the CWC.
CWC provides an arena to share the latest ideas of computing-related
topics in a supportive environment. CWC offers an open, explorative
learning and teaching environment with emphasis on hands-on experience
and engaging participatory techniques.
We invite contributions from all women in the community. Seasoned
professionals are encouraged to share their experiences. Experts from
industry and academia are invited to experiment with new styles of
training and learning. Advanced students can develop their teaching
skills while sharing their IT knowledge.
We welcome submissions from around the world, but primarily focus on
those from the Pan-Pacific region. Each day of the CWC will offer a
number of individual courses followed by a keynote presentation in the
evening. Participants may stay for a single day only or for a few days
up to the whole week.
