Invitation from Oblong Infoshop, Wellington
Kia ora koutou
I do voluntary work at the Oblong Infoshop in the Left Bank (off Cuba Mall). A woman came in the other day asking about the Ubuntu CDs we have been distributing (we are out of the nice printed ones but some more have been ordered and we can burn copies of a range of Linux distros on request) and told me about LinuxChix. Just thought I'd send some information FYI about other Linux-friendly groups around Poneke. It's really exciting to see what you're doing and I will pop along to the installfest to meet you all if I'm in town.
I'd like to invite you all to participate in a weekly Linux skill-sharing session called Linux Play, which happens every Wednesday at Oblong, starting at 6pm. The idea is for people to meet face-to-face, whatever their skill level, to learn and help others with anything relating to Linux or other FOSS software.
I notice that the WellyLUG group are currently looking for a place for their inner city monthly meet-up. If anyone has any venue suggestions I'm sure the LUG crew would be thrilled to hear them:

Another Linux-friendly group in the Windy city is the Victoria Uni computer club 'Interface':

For the last few years they have been the local organisers for Software
Freedom Day:

I'm sure they'd be keen to hear from people keen to be part of that event.
Best of luck with the installfest and looking forward to doing some hacking with you all as the year progresses.
